What a Great day had by all the nomads with five double figure bows and browns pulled out over the course of the day, to various patterns.
This Venue just keeps on producing great quality trout with the average size of fish today well over 4lb, with the majority of fish caught between 6-7lbs!!!
Member John burrow had smashed two personal records today, with his largest brown and largest rainbow caught within the space of a hour!
The brown trout weighing in at 14lb 6oz! His largest and the clubs largest brown caught this season.
Far too much to put on a blog without me boring you all, but what a excellent day, check out a few exclusive photos.
Including the brown trout concerned and a stunning view of the sun setting over the dam wall at Arnfield.
All in all if you havent been to this venue, you must make a visit soon, the trout are fighting fit and in excellent condition.
Every single nomad came away with a big smile on their face after a cold but rewarding days fishing, and that is what North West Nomads is all about! Friends & fishing.

Raygill Session 1st December
We arrived at the fishery before the sun rose, at least a couple of members did anyway!
The wind was non existent, the rain was holding off so far, it looked to be a stunning day for fly fishing.
On arrival at the lodge we were warmly greeted by the owner and the fishery bailiff. Explained in detail on what fly worked and where the fish were holding up. So we headed out together towards the larger quarry lodge.
We got to the bank and were warmly greeted by a large flock of ducks!
Trout moving initally all over the surface first thing, and slowly the rises died off as the time got closer to midday, but this didnt effect our catch rate.
After 6+ hours of fishing we all came away happy with the number of fish caught and the quality of the venue itself.
All i can say, if youve never fished Raygill before, you must pay them a visit!
Crystal clear blue tinged water, with trout willing to take a dry even at this time of the year!
Most fish caught was awarded to Oliver Avis (England Youth Fly Fishing ace) with 20+ fish caught over the course of the day. Most successful pattern, was, of course, various colored snake patterns. The most successful colour had to be Olive & pink did well also!
Biggest fish awarded to fellow nomad, Steve Elliott, with a whopping brown over 7lb. (see photo below).

Our next session as a club is on the 22nd of December, at Arnfield Reservoir, this will be our last session of the season. Im sure this venue will not disappointed, with large fish caught on every nomad outing at Arnfield! Mostly by member Steve Elliott (pictured above, with yet another lump!)

Barnsfold, what a venue!
Quality fishing today, superb conditions, slight ripple. Not as cold as it has been, waters got a nice chill to the surface, unlike only a month ago alot of waters had 20+ degree readings.
Securing 52 fish, we fished hard and were rewarded for our efforts.
This was our second visit as a club to this water, and after today we will sure be returning for a 3rd time very soon!
Alot of anglers on the bank, however as Barnsfold fishery has two 9acre lakes, space wasn't a problem....
Top patterns wont suprise those who know us nomads...
Pink pink & more pink!
For some reason the barnsfold stockies loved abit of pink!
Fry chasers were visible throughout the day, large fry like patterns doing well for other guest anglers.
Over all a great day, Barnsfold is highly recommended on behalf of all the nomads, get down to this peaceful water and caught yourself some quality fighting fit trout...

Barnsfold Water 17/11/13
With the last few sessions being a Great success, our next should be no different, providing the weather behaves itself!
Our next session takes place at Barnsfold water, a venue which us nomads have enjoyed prior, our second visit this year.
Starting at 8:30am and finishing between 2pm - 4pm weather depending.
Barnsfold is a very natural water with some excellent quality fighting fit trout to be caught. The fishery record bow is 16lb and an 11lb brown, any will do on the day!!
Although Barnsfold can be a very productive nymph / buzzer water I think the pink snakes might be making an appearance again!
North West nomads now have a "Go-pro head cam" in the form of secret, undercover, polarised glasses. So constant footage of us all will be taking place throughout the days session. No pressure members!!
Here's Barnsfolds website, great competitive prices too!

NW Nomads # #, Curleys Trout Fishery...
Today we visited Curleys trout fishery in horwich, although the weather was somewhat against us! we battled through the icy storms, strong 40mph westerly gusts.
Great Venue this time of year, well recommended, lures were the proven choice. Top patterns were Snakes and blobs!
Blobs worked very well for Members teamed with indicators, fished around 3-4 feet.
Pink snake flies seemed to prove effective once again! Airflo di-4, short leader around 12-15ft fished around 5-8ft, long slow strips. When the retrieve was paused the trout hammered the fly, no need to strike, solid hook up.
With plenty of us turning out initially in the morning! a few members had to leave early due to work or family commitments, we had 8 members at the final prize give away....
All in all, Curleys trout fishery is a venue to be visited this time of the year, when few fisheries are available across the north west. Closed seasons etc.
Heres a photo of the remaining eight, after a hard, very cold and wet, but greatly enjoyable day...
A very big thanks goes out to Mike Roden for providing us with the prizes concerned.

Our next venue will be held at curleys trout fishery, on the 3rd of November, Sunday. The following coming weeks venues will be discussed at the meeting.
For details on our upcoming sessions, email the nomads or email the manager directly.

Bank House fly fishery 27/10/13
Not a great forecast for Sunday, with heavy rain and strong winds foreseen.
A few nomads turned up to brave the conditions with one angler in particular doing very well! - Fellow nomad and top angler Jim McGinley, over the course of a 8 hour ticket, landed 12 trout.
Most members managed between one and four trout to their net, so Jim did very well indeed and had a very successful session.
Weather wise, the wind came and went, but remained steadily strong from midday onwards, swirling our lines as we chucked some fluff.
Two nice sizeable trout were caught over the course of this session, with Jim McGinley and Steve Elliott leading the way.
Below shows a photo of a cracking bow at 5lb 4oz, taken by Steve Elliott!
Good angling nomads!
Todays top patterns
1. Orange blob (effective best under a indicator allowed to drift around in the 30mph wind.
2. CDC Hopper (took the biggest fish of the day, at 5lb 4oz)
3. Pink snake! (fast becoming an effective fly across the north west for the daft stockies!!)
Thanks for all those that came, and If you want to join us for a session to see what us nomads are all about simply email myself directly, for more information.

Bank House fly fishery...
Weather Forecast Prediction : Rain, Strong 30mph SW winds, never the less rather warm with highs of 13 degrees.
Tomorrow we visit the renowned Bank House Fly Fishery...
Arriving at 8:30am and finishing at 4pm, for trophies and top rod announcement.
Good prospects predicted with some excellent catches at the venue as of late, some very large brownies waiting to be captured by a fellow nomad!
Indicators will no doubt play a big part in fishing Bank House, as always, its often difficult to regulate your fly or flies depth. The most effective way on a small water such as Bank House is to present your chosen pattern under a indicator.
Get those eggs and black buzzers at the ready!!
Pink eggs always does well as an alternative pattern, if all else fails at this venue, so make sure you grab yourself a few in the tackle shop.
On our previous visits we had a great few sessions with the most memorable being a 9lb Rainbow caught to a cruncher caught by Nathan Jones (see pic 1.1)
A stunning little brown caught by member Gary Stanley (see pic 1.2).
As well on our most recent visit, a beautiful tiger trout Caught by fellow nomad, Aaron Carnie (see pic 1.3).
Tightlines & roll on Sunday 27th October session!
